I am having a hard time getting through The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue. I don't know if it's because the language is so damned drawn out and tedious or maybe it's because I'm so modernized that I need more action and dialogue to keep my interest. However, it's not helping that the main character's name is Fido. Either way, I've decided not to punish myself further and have temporarily stopped reading. I do hope that one lonely night, I'll be brave enough to pick up the book to continue this tedious journey.
Maybe I just need a bottle of Jack to screw my courage to the sticking-place. (I got this phrase from The Sealed Letter.)
P.S. Why is it that I read this phrase, I think of people shagging up against a red wall with the guy saying between thrusts, "I'll - screw - you - to - the - sticking - place!"?)
